Shame news!

Nepali deaths are under-reported

Of the 153 Nepalis who died in Qatar in 2007, only five percent died due to natural causes, according to Ram Kaji Khadka of the Nepali mission. The Gulf Times states this is an increase of 15 deaths (11%) over 2006 figures. With an estimated Nepali population in Qatar of 266,000 this equates to a mortality rate of 58 per 100,000. The mortality rate of British men in the 25-45-year-old age range is 110 to 170 deaths per 100,000. It seems highly probable from the comparison that deaths of Nepalis in Qatar are being greatly under-reported.
